7 Reasons to take an Oregon Road Trip

This weekend, we’re leaving for a weeklong road trip through western Oregon. Not only are we over the moon about the very idea of an actual vacation, I’m particularly excited about experiencing some of the awesomeness that western Oregon has to offer. On my twitter, I’ve been tweeting the top seven reasons I’m looking forward to this roadtrip. Here’s a recap:
Reason #7: Milkshakes at Burgerville. This Oregon chain is fast food that’s not only tasty, but locally sourced.
Reason #6: Tasting some of the best bleu cheese in the world at the Rogue Creamery near Medford.
Reason # 5: Oregon Coast lighthouses. Here is one of our favorites, the Yaquina Head Lighthouse on a sunny, windy day.

Reason #4: Some of the best craft beer in the world, like my fave of the moment, Ninkasi IPA in Eugene.
Reason #3Wine country! The only problem you have is choosing which valleys to stop at because there are so many! We’ve tasted in the Willamette Valley many times, so for this trip we’ll focus on wine tasting in the Umpqua Valley and the Applegate Valley.
Reason #2: Oregon State Parks. When you’re road tripping, state parks are often nice opportunities to stretch your legs and see a bit of the local nature.
Reason #1: Time with my family! I know, I’m with my family all the time at home, right?. But there’s something entirely special about family time spent experiencing lighthouses and waterfalls together! And I cannot wait.
