To the northwest of Vancouver lies the Sunshine Coast, where visitors are drawn to bask in the sun and just relax. things move at a pace or two behind the city here, and that’s just the way the locals want it.
The Sunshine Coast, with its rich native and maritime history, awesome scenery, trails and ample wilderness campsites, is one of BC’s star attractions, and it’s a world-renowned destination for outdoor recreation. If you’ve not visited here before, we feel the need to warn you – there is a LOT to do here, from hiking, cycling and paddling to eating incredible seafood and drinking local wines. Don’t rush it if you can help it.
The Lower Sunshine Coast is a nice day trip destination from Vancouver. It takes a bit of planning and two ferry rides (or your own sailboat) to reach the Upper Sunshine Coast from Vancouver, but the picturesque towns of Powell River and Lund and all of the recreational opportunities surrounding them are destinations worth your trip.
